The San Francisco 49ers control their own destiny in the final game of their season. On Sunday, they head to SoFi Stadium to face the LA Rams as 4-point underdogs, and if they win, they’ll secure a playoff position after missing out last year. The Rams, who’ve already clinched, will play for better seeding and the NFC Championship; they’re currently No. 2 in the NFC. Game time is 4:25 PM ET, and the total is pegged at 44 points.

We’re still unsure which quarterback will start for the 49ers on Sunday. Jimmy Garoppolo sat out in Week 17 to try to accelerate his recovery from a torn UCL in his thumb on his throwing hand. Backup QB Trey Lance stood in and orchestrated a 23-7 win over the Houston Texans that saw the 49ers’ defense and ground game play well.
The Rams will be looking for a sixth straight win to finish their season 13-4 on Sunday. They returned to their winning ways after suffering a three-game losing streak mid-season; in the middle of that streak they lost 31-10 to the 49ers in a game that saw Matthew Stafford get intercepted twice and pass for just one touchdown. In the Rams’ Week 17 game, Stafford struggled again, getting picked twice in the first half, with one returned for a touchdown.
