NHL Odds: Flyers and Canadiens Kick Off Best-of-Seven on Wednesday – The Eastern Conference Quarterfinals begin this week. Game 1 between the top-seeded Philadelphia Flyers and bottom-seeded Montreal Canadiens is set for Wednesday. This is shaping up to be an interesting matchup, as the Flyers went undefeated in their three round robin games against the Eastern Conference’s top clubs. In fact, they allowed only three goals over that span, shutting down the likes of Alex Ovechkin, Nikita Kucherov and David Patrnak along the way. However, Montreal is coming off of the biggest upset of the Qualifying Round by ousting the heavily-favoured Pittsburgh Penguins in four games. Their confidence should be at an all-time high heading into Wednesday’s contest.

Montreal’s success depends on the man between the pipes. Netminder Carey Price was nothing short of sensational against the offensively-gifted Penguins. The former MVP stopped 126 of 133 shots fired his way and shut out Pittsburgh in the series-clinching win in Game 4. Montreal isn’t known for their offensive prowess, so it’ll be up to Price to carry the load.
The Flyers impressed everyone in their three seeding games. Holding the Bruins, Lightning and Capitals to one goal apiece is no easy task, and they were also firing on all offensive cylinders, scoring 11 total goals over those three games. C Scott Laughton led the way for the Flyers, netting three goals and adding two assists. Tune if for the 8 PM ET start to see who gets the early jump in the series.
